"Because I am worth it"....Are they?

“The assumption that animals are without rights, and the illusion that our treatment of them has no moral significance, is a positively outrageous example of Western crudity and barbarity. Universal compassion in the only guarantee of morality.”
Arthur Schopenhauer, The Basis of Morality

The truth behind the shine in your lipstick, the lingering smell of your perfume, the fact that your shampoo doesn't sting your eyes and even the pain relief that pill brings when you have a headache- is due to the life of an innocent animal, sitting in a cold cage somewhere, enduring side effects of products they have no use for.

  1. Are you arguing that future animal testing should be banned?
If so, is this about cosmetics? Or is this about life saving drugs?
An argument against this could be that medical science would not be where it was today without animal testing.

    1. Hi Peter, thank you for your comment. I am promoting and arguing why animal testing is unethical, and how more research needs to be done into alternatives, that do not harm ANY living animal. In a few posts up I do explain the amount of evidence and understanding of disease animal testing has produced, however the fact is that nine out of ten experiments done on animals, do not have the same effect on humans. I also talk about how if scientists are able to develop complex experiments on animals, why aren't they conducting complex experiments into alternatives, that may produce better results than the latter.

  2. I really like your topic for your blog and I love the way you have introduced your topic with the rhetorical question and the quote which starts to show the angle you are taking on this issue, which is that animal testing doesn't isn't necessary and that more research needs to be done for alternate options without harming animals.

I am too against animal testing, as I love animals and think that this is cruel, but do you think that this stops people from using products that are tested on animals like certain cosmetic brands for instance? I know for many people it does but for others it is about being aware if this issue, and having the time to find alternate products that are not tested on humans.

Great topic and perfect picture to go with it!
